Rodney King's Death was Accidental

Rodney Glen King (April 2, 1965 – June 17, 2012) was an African-American construction worker who became well known after being beaten harshly by LA police officers following a high-speed car chase on March 3, 1991. At the time, King was on parole from a robbery and led police on a chase to avoid being captured. After the LA Riot, King was remembered for his noe famous line, "Can we just get along?" King has been no stranger to the media. He was driving under the influence in August 1993 and crashed his car into a blocked wall in downtown LA.

In July 1995, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail for hitting his wife with a car and leaving the scene. In August 2003, he was arrested for driving under the influence, failing to stop at a red light and slamming his car into a house. In November 2007, King was shot while riding a bicycle. He told police that a man and a woman was trying to take his bike. In 2008, King checked himself into rehab. Not just any rehabbed, but Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which premiered in October 2008. Dr. Drew said if he did not get clean, he would be dead soon. He also appeared on Sober House, determined to stay clean and rekindle his relationship with his family, which was destroyed due to his addiction and him constantly breaking the law.

In 2009, King  had been clean for 11 months . He served on a panel for new addicts. That was aired on a show called Triggers. In Narcotics Annoymous (NA) addicts are encouraged to share their story to save the life of someone else. In September 2010, King got engaged to  Cynthia Kelley, a juror in his civil suit, in which he won a $3.8 million lawsuit. (Really Cynthia? After hearing this mans troubled life, filled with drug abuse, domestic violence and recklessness, you decided you want to spend the rest of your life with him? Or was it the rest of his life?) In March 2011, on the anniversary of his beating, he was given a citation for driving reckless ( Out celebrating or was he trying to promote his book and react the event?), which led to his arrest in February 2012.
On June 17, 2012, King's fiancée Cynthia Kelly found him lying at the bottom of his swimming pool.(Kelly's statement on the police report and the neighbors report are not consistent and his family believes Kelly had some involvement in his death.) When the Police arrived at King's LA home, they attempted CPR until paramedics got there to take him to the hospital. Upon his arrival, King was pronounced dead at the hospital and an autopsy was performed.

As shown in the coroners report on August 23, 2012, King's autopsy results stated he died of an accidental drowning. Although alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP were found in his blood and were contributing factors to his death, King also had an enlarged heart and may have suffered a heart attack before falling into the pool.

We will continue to keep his family in our prayers.
