LL Cool J, puts His Platinum Workout on an Intruder

Update: On Wednesday, August 22nd, LL Cool J, whose real name is James Todd Smith, heard noises in his LA home, which sounded off his home security alarm. The "NCIS: Los Angeles," star put his Platinum Workout on an intruder, he found in his home. Jonathan Kirby, 56, suffered a broken nose, jaw and ribs when he taken down by LL and detained until the police came.

It is unclear if he knew who house he was breaking into. Kirby will be charged with  first degree burglary as a "third striker," which means he could face 38 years to life in prison if convicted. He was previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Dallas, Texas, in 1988. He also has auto theft, first degree burglary and a petty theft conviction in Los Angeles on his record.

Prosecuters are asking that bail for Kirby be set at $1.1 million. Arraignment for the suspect is not yet set, because he is still hospitalized for treatment of injuries. "LL Cool J, and his family, are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern," his representative said in a statement to CNN. "As a father, husband and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter."
