When a young woman begins her menstrual as a teen, it usually doesn't start off heavy but over the years our cycle change. As I got older, I noticed that my cycle changed according to what I ate. If I ate meat the week before or during my cycle, the flow would be heavy and full of blood clots. If I ate raw foods , then my flow was lighter. I now make it a habit to eat plant based and vegan dishes, so that I don't have a heavy cycle.
My cycles were so heavy I had to use tampons , maxi pads , bed protectors and I have to take 2-3 iron tablets to slow down the menstrual flow every day during my cycle. After my cycle, I take 1-2 iron tablets so that I can replenish the blood loss during my cycle.
My life did not change until I started using a menstrual cup . My first day is normally just spotting, 2nd day the flow is light pink, the 3rd and 4th day is a steady flow (menstrual cup time) 5th day it starts to slow down. Because I have fibroids, my cycle can last up to 14 days but it's mostly spotting not a constant flow.

I wish I knew about these menstrual cups before I went into menopause. I'm so happy I don;t have to worry about those things anymore but this sounds like a great product!
ReplyDeleteI have heard so many things about these cups but I am still unsure. I don't understand how you keep them in and how it doesn't make a mess. I am such a clutz that I feel it wouldn't work for me. I may need to read up more on it though because I love the idea of an alternative, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have heard great things about menstrual cups, I just find them so intimidating! I just don't get it so I should definitely give it a try. Also, I notice my flow is heavier when I eat meat as well... that's why I stopped eating it for 4 years! I mentioned this to my doctor and she completely dismissed me saying food can't affect my menstrual cycle.
ReplyDeleteI have such a heavy period too and have to have loads of sanitary products for day 1 - 3. I am intrigued to try this cup because I have heard so much about it. I guess i was worried abut how they would feel!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I have always considered a cup, but was worried with my extremely heavy flow I wouldn't be able to try it. Will give it a go.
ReplyDeletecups have always been too large and uncomfortable for me. never found a brand that works
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been wanting to try a menstrual cup! The length of my periods and flow has changed since giving birth and using an IUD. Your kit sounds amazing and is a great value!
ReplyDeleteI love menstrual cups! Definitely a life changer for me too. They are so much more convenient than disposable products.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried these before.I will definitely check them out.
